5★ Tenants: Securing a Place

You are prepared. You’ve done your research. You’ve set your priorities and reached out to secure viewings. WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU? Good water pressure? Double glazed windows? Close to a travel station? Free (or otherwise) car parking? Size? Cleanliness? Good quality furniture (if furnished)? Etc. Check all of these during your visits. VIEWINGS Try to ‘bunch’ viewings and be prepared to make a quick decision - decisive people tend to be preferred. Ask for the earliest viewing on the property that you’d most like to live-in. Try and book your 2nd choice next, and so on. Note the telephone numbers of your contacts for the viewings. If you are running late, let them know and how long you think you’ll be and confirm that this is alright. Otherwise, aim to be early. If you like the property, say so. OUTCOME Be clear on your moving plans. When would you like to move (be prepared to negotiate)? Make an offer. Pay a holding deposit there and then - if you are sure.
